Jamaican civil rights leader Marcus Garvey was the first person to advance the political consciousness of the African diaspora on a large scale.
Garvey's philosophy emphasized black empowerment through economic, political, & social freedom. His doctrine of self-sufficiency and call to “Stand tall!” & “Unite!” helped to psychologically liberate the minds of generations.
